About this Website
It's been a long time since I last wrote code for a website. If I remember correctly, we used to use CSS 2.1 and XHTML. Discovering a new website was fun; they were very personalized, designed and written from scratch, and not bloated at all, except for the random GIFs floating around, of course.
After the rapid rise of content management systems, people started deploying them, slapping on a theme, and calling it a day. At the same time, social media platforms took over and killed bulletin board community culture. But it didn't stop there. JavaScript was on the rise, it enabled tracking by advertising companies and three-letter agencies. The internet wasn't the good old Wild West anymore. It felt like it lost its character, and I lost my interest.
I came up with the idea for this website on April 16, 2026, while browsing featured Neocities websites. They reminded me how happy I used to be designing and maintaining websites and moderating communities when I was younger.
Purpose
This site is a personal archive of ideas and data, my own little cozy space. My non-sensitive spreadsheets and notes are scattered everywhere, so this gives me a way to bring them all under one roof. I also maintain a page where I post what I'm currently up to, updated monthly, sometimes more often. It's not a blog, each update replaces the last one.
The internet has become too centralized, and that needs to change. Social media platforms censor speech, whether due to government pressure or advertiser interests. Personal websites, on the other hand, are ungovernable. I can write what I want, and if a provider takes it down, I can simply move it elsewhere without losing a single bit.
Design Choices
I've tried to keep everything ultra-minimalist while capturing the soul of Y2K-era personal websites. It's a static website, and the entire structure branches out from the main page. Since I work with vectors all day long, I decided to use as few images as possible.
Before building it, I set a few rules and stuck to them:
- Minimalism is the priority, but it should still be visually appealing.
- Must have some character.
- No web fonts.
- Keep CSS clean and optimized, no unused code.
- Pages must stay under 100 KB.
- Must be stateless, no cookies.
- Avoid JavaScript entirely.
- No analytics, even privacy-friendly ones.
End Goal
I want to optimize the shit out of this website, make it as small and fast as possible without sacrificing anything, and run it until the end of time. It can evolve over time, new pages might appear out of nowhere if I pick up a new hobby.
About Me
Hello,
I use ZERO (in all caps) as my alias. It comes from the origin point of a coordinate system. I've gone through plenty of names, but this one is the fixed point.
I always use different names for different things: opening issues under one, contributing translations under another, and switching identities from site to site. I've been doing this since I first started using the internet, without knowing it would be useful in the future.
Lupus Vult is a Latin phrase and a personal motto of mine. It's derived from a Crusader battle cry and roughly means "the wolf wills it." I came up with it after digging into Roman and Turkic mythology.
I'm the owner of Gigaslice Games and co-owner of Tribal Studio with my childhood friend, who is now my business partner. I design and document our projects, and create the visuals. I also write code for my personal projects.

The Dream Life
At some point, I'd like to own around 10 hectares of land in a secluded area. My goal would be to build a large but minimalist, low-tech brick house with a bunker underneath and gradually develop the property into a self-sufficient, off-grid homestead with solar power, satellite internet and groundwater extraction.
I'd also like to build a sizable chicken coop and a greenhouse for food production. I would plant olive trees across the rest of the land and work toward producing all of my own food.
And then, out of nowhere, I would be abducted by aliens. When they're done with me, I would return home, adjust to life with my newly acquired anal probe(s), and carry on as if it's just another minor inconvenience. Just like I do with every other inconvenience in my life.
Not Very Fun Facts
Since this is an über-personalized website, I'll include this somewhat unnecessary personal information section. I used to find it a bit cringe, but after trying it, I found it quite therapeutic. I might update this section from time to time.
- I hold grudges; I'm known for my bridge-burning skills. But it's hard to get on my bad side; people are safe as long as they don't betray me for personal gain.
- I've had issues with authority since I was young. If someone tries to order me around, I tend to cause catastrophic levels of trouble. But if they ask the same thing politely, I'll usually go along with it.
- I genuinely believe in equality, but there's no way to make everyone happy. One day, if I decide to volunteer to run a country, say no, because I would make everyone equally miserable.
- I still play Team Fortress 2 on and off. I used to be a Medic main, but I main drunk black Scottish cyclops nowadays. Whenever I'm tired, bored, or annoyed, I jump on W+M1 Pyro and terrorize Spy mains.
- I prefer manga over anime. It makes me feel like I'm managing my time better, and I can't stand the high-energy voice acting that a lot of anime uses.
- I prefer low cc motorcycles and single speed bicycles over any car. There is only one exception: '69 Ford Mustang Mach 1.
- I daydream about being a suburban warlord in a post-apocalyptic environment.
- I try to optimize everything, even how I place items in the dishwasher to make unloading easier. I buy socks in large batches from the same brand and in the same color so I can wash them together and not waste time matching them afterward. I don't like wasting time or energy, especially on everyday tasks.
- I like customizing things and making them personal. Even the bag I carry ends up with patches, attachment points, and extra pockets. I also avoid walled garden devices, I prefer having control and flexibility.
